The First Bite: My Culinary Journey Begins


 

Welcome to Amy’s Global Kitchen: A Food Lover’s Journey Through Recipes and Restaurants! My love for food was sparked at a young age watching both of my grandmas in the kitchen. Each had their own unique style, but both cooked meals that brought everyone together. Food plays a central role in my life, not only to fuel the body, but as a bridge to memories, culture, and relationships. Growing up, I was fortunate to be surrounded by a rich variety of flavors, but two cuisines that have always held a special place in my heart are Italian and Cajun, which are representative of both sides of my family. A lot of my inspiration comes from my grandparents, but also the chefs I grew up watching. Icons such as Emeril Lagasse and Paul Prudhomme brought the bold flavors of Cajun and Creole into my home, while Rachel Ray’s approachable recipes made everyday meals feel easy and fun. Their influence has not only shaped my kitchen, but also my approach to exploring the world of flavors. Through my blog, we will embark on a flavorful adventure across the globe, starting with my new home in the Netherlands. I will be uncovering hidden gems, exploring street food, touring local markets, and reviewing restaurants. Another feature that this blog will showcase is the family recipes that have been handed down throughout the generations and their stories.
